Google Chrome

Dear Parent/ Carers,

During the school closure teachers will providing learning guidance for families to complete at home.  This will be done using Google Classroom.  We have chosen this method as we feel it is the most efficient way of keeping in contact with everyone during this period.  We appreciate that this is a change to our normal practice but we hope you understand the need to use this. It is new to all of us!

This service will be live from midday on Monday 23rd March, however, please feel free to set up your Google account prior to this.  There is a help guide on setting up your Google account below this letter.

Each year group will have one page that both classes will use.  As parents, you will be sent an invitation to your email address to join your child’s Google Classroom.  You will need to have a Google account to accept this invitation. You can use your current email address as a Google account. If you are unsure about doing this please see the attached help sheet.

The Google Classroom will be populated with learning guidance documents that are intended for all children in that year group.  The Classroom also provides the facility of you being able to ask questions regarding the content.  We ask that this is used responsibly.  Teachers will continue to work during the school closure, including being in school to look after the children of key workers and other identified groups.  With this in mind, please be patient! Teachers will check Google Classroom regularly and you should receive a response within the working week. All of this is subject to change, due to nature of the circumstances we find ourselves in.

We hope that the information presented to you is useful and enables you to support your child at home. Please do not feel that you have to produce masses of evidence in the form of worksheets, this is not our intention and it will be impossible to mark them. We feel that building learning experiences into your daily routines will be more beneficial for you and your child’s health and well-being, whilst being easier to manage at this difficult time. Be sure to share your families learning experiences on Google Classroom.

If you do not have access to the internet or have any other questions regarding this then please contact the office.

Many thanks,

Brett Dye
